David Powell Davies
David Powell Davies‘s short stories, many set in Indonesia, were published in an anthology called Papatong in 2018. He completed his first novel – published in 2022 – Heart of Stone. He has written two film scripts, the first was shortlisted by the British Film Institute, the second - a work in progress. He wrote, in collaboration with an American songwriter (Lorna Lee) a musical called ‘The Kissing Screen’, which was performed once on a London stage in the 90s. He has also written several stage plays and pilots for TV.
David was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Wales and Africa (Nigeria and Uganda). He graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in 1972 and then worked as an actor for 28 years – for two of those years in South Africa (1975-8).

In 2000, David moved overseas after obtaining his CELTA qualification to teach English language. He taught English in Singapore, China and in Indonesia. After a while, he settled in Indonesia.
